Even with a talented team and the best tech it can still be a challenge to create encounters that are compelling and memorable. The worst part of this situation is that it is almost impossible to change once things have gone off track. We will explore a new development process which starts rather than ends with encounter designs. This process ensures that the final gameplay product (the encounters) have all the pieces they require and that designers are being set up for success. Guidelines will also be provided for how to get the most from your programming team and your AI programmers in particular.
Learning Objectives
- Come away with a process that will ensure that you are able to create AAA quality encounters
- Learn how to effectively create requirements that will result in your programming team creating the technology that you need
- Gain insight on what makes AI impressive from a player’s perspective
