Presented by Richard Lemarchand and Philippe MorinLead Game Designer and Co-FounderNaughty Dog, Red Barrels Studio

November 1st10:00 - 11:00Room : Westmount

Buckle up for a wild ride with Naughty Dog’s Richard Lemarchand, Lead Game Designer of the award-winning Uncharted series, as he guides the MIGS audience through a sequence of live gameplay demos spanning the Sony PlayStation 3 exclusives Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and the forthcoming Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.

Focusing on the evolution of Naughty Dog’s technology, production approach and design philosophy, Lemarchand will discuss how the studio’s goal of creating an actively playable cinematic experience, as well as reinventing the action-adventure story genre for a contemporary audience, lead to the biggest hits in Naughty Dog’s history.

Learning objectives:

The audience will gain an insight into the fast, loose production approach that Naughty Dog employs, will learn about the playtest-driven, player-favoring philosophy that the studio uses to streamline their game experiences towards challenging fun, and will hear first-hand how the studio has progressed over the past seven years from zero lines of PlayStation 3 code towards a hugely sophisticated narrative action-game authoring environment.
