Presented by Jeff Timanus

New game-relevant technologies are arriving in desktop and mobile browsers: GPUs to accelerate 3D, 2D, vector graphics and video. Other technologies include networking, audio, application-managed data store, and multi-threading. C/C++ developers are targeting web apps that run high performance code directly in a browser without plug-ins. This session surveys technologies available giving code samples and demos of their use. It is a jump-start to any traditional developer who had previously not targeted the Web.
Learning Objectives
- It is possible to create Web games using only technology that is built into the browser.
- Web technology has evolved considerably and offers new features.
- These features are still new and have issues that developers should be aware of.
Jeff has a passion for developing tools and technology to facilitate game development. He is a software developer at Google on the Chrome team, working to provide full GPU hardware acceleration for the HTML5 APIs. At Google, Jeff was a founding member of the O3D team, which released a plug-in based browser technology that was a precursor to WebGL. Prior to Google, he was a software developer at Autodesk, where he worked on 2D and 3D content creation systems.
