This talk will discuss various topics surrounding memory allocations and profiling applications. Topics will include strategies to efficiently allocate memory using Sony Computer Entertainment’s Memory Allocation Profiler (MAP). Finally, we will discuss how to efficiently capture and process large amounts of performance data coming from video games without impacting the games performance.

John is lead of the Game Systems team in Developer Support. His focus is on game engine and systems programming for PlayStation platforms. Notable projects include MAP (Memory Allocation Profiler) and Move.Me. Hailing from Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada he completed his Masters degree at McMaster University before joining Developer Support in 2007. While at school John developed an interest in collision detection and worked on the Linux kernel writing inotify.
