Presented by Chris Pruett
November 2nd13:30 - 14:30Room : Lachine-Lasalle
Many game developers worry about the multitude of Android devices available. Game developers are particularly sensitive to potential compatibility issues across hundreds of phones and tablets. However, it appears that by abiding to a few key rules it is possible to develop a single binary that runs on all of them, or a subset that you specify, without much pain. This session will explain how to approach device diversity and build aggressively compatible Android games using Replica Island, an Android-exclusive side-scroller with over 1.8 million users, as a case study.
Learning Objectives
- The steps taken to achieve mass compatibility for Replica Island.
- Pitfalls and mistakes often made by game developers.
- How to use Android’s manifest system to fine-tune how Android Market distributes your game.
