Social Games Development in a Traditional Game Studio

How can a traditional console game oriented studio start developing social games? This session will review Ubisoft Quebec’s recent experience in the development of social games. How we set it up, what the biggest hurdles were, the  profiles we needed for new employees, the habits that needed to be changed, the key success factors etc.

About Luc Richard

First employee of Ubisoft Quebec in 2005, he contributed to setting up the studio, acting as Director of operations and producer. In late 2009, as part of a group strategy, Luc headed the establishment of the Social game division to later on become the executive in charge of all social and casual games produced at Ubisoft Quebec. Before joining Ubisoft, Luc had a 20 year military career where he held many strategic positions such as Canadian contingent Comtroller, acting as Chief of staff in Bosnia Herzegovina, Head of strategic planning for the Land Forces in Quebec Area, and many others.  Luc is a MBA graduate from HEC Montreal and holds a Bachelor degree in Commerce from Carleton University. Finally, Luc was recently named Fellow of the Canadian order of Certified managerial accountant.
