Having seen both sides of the fence and the realities of three separate publishing environments as well as multiple development houses, I hope to shed light on some of the inherent misconceptions that prevent publishers and developers amongst the various regional entities from seeing eye-to-eye in spite of our industry’s requirements for unimpeded collaboration to ensure global success.
Learning Objectives
- Two Sides: Better understand the inherent strengths and weaknesses of Developers and Publishers.
- Foreign Language: Add context to the communication to better understand and explain your particular view during the critical time leading up to launch in spite of your role or your location. – Best Practices: A few of my own pivotal learnings along the Great Divide that seem to hold true regardless of which side of the fence you inhabit.
Freelance. SEGA. UBISOFT. Independent Developer. Social Gaming Giant. Start-Up. UBISOFT. Square-Enix. From young Odyssey 2 fanatic to a high schooler who took the train to Chicago to experience CES firsthand, I have celebrated the video game industry for as long as I can remember. Freelance journalist to marketer to producer at an indie dev. I love every facet of the industry and hope to bring a unique perspective to every conversation in which I engage.
