Steinberg Sound Design Contest presented by Othentic Music and Yamaha Canada Music

Venue: Fontaine A room (Exposition Zone of the Hilton Bonaventure Hotel in Montreal)
Schedule: 8 am to 12:00 pm
Participants: Maximum 20 students from music and sound programs
Fee: 50$
To bring with you: Headphones with a 1/8″ jack
Spectators: 1500 MIGS participants that will be going to the Expo Zone to register, eat, play, and meet with the exhibitors and others.
Workshop description:
Aim: To create a 1 minute soundtrack based on a theme selected by the mentor, Othentic Productions and Yamaha /Steinberg, in a 3 hours period using Cubase 6 and HALion 4
Starting at 8 am, participants will be able to familiarize themselves with the software used during the workshop.
Participants will use their own headphones, compatible with a 1.8 outlet.
15 minutes before the beginning of the contest, Othentic Productions will explain the rules of the contest and the work to be done.
During the competition, the mentors will be available to guide participants and answer their questions.
At the end, each participant will present their soundtrack. Depending on the number of participants, this period shall take about 45 minutes.
The jury, will then take 45 minutes to choose the winner.
Grand prize: 1 Cubase 6 and 1 HALion 4 and 1 HALion 4
Second prize: 1 Cubase Artist 6 and 1 HALion 4
Third prize: 1 Cubase Elements 6 and and 1 HALion 4

COMPOSITION OF ‘LIVE’ MUSIC ON VIDEO GAME TRAILER
Benoit Babin (Othentic Music) and David Miner (Yamaha Canada Music) will show you, using the softwares Cubase 6 and Halion 4, how to compose the music of a video game trailer. The presentation, lasting 1h30minutes, will teach you how to use the software Cubase 6 to compose music on image.
